What May Brings
What May Brings
May 1st marks the launch of many important awareness-raising initiatives to improve air quality in our region, across the country, and worldwide.

May is Clean Air Month, May 2 – May 6 marks the 10th annual Air Quality Awareness Week, and World Asthma Day is recognized on May 3.

To mark this important time, Clean Air Partners has organized mini outreach events in the region on May 2. Representatives will pass out materials at Rosslyn and Dupont Metro stations, as well as Harborplace in Maryland, asking the public to download the Air Quality App. Those who download the app from May 2 – May 15 will be entered to win a Staycation Package with a one night hotel stay and dinner or concert tickets.

A newly launched Clean Air Partners video also helps share these important messages with a wider audience: Clean Air Partners YouTube Page.

There are many small actions we can take that will help continue to improve our region’s air quality:
  • Download the Air Quality App
  • Use public transportation
  • Telecommute
  • Exercise earlier in the morning, when ozone levels and temperatures are not as high and during a poor air quality day, exercise indoors.
  • Use an electric-powered lawn mower and leaf blower
  • Refuel your car after dusk during the summer
  • Replace your charcoal grill with a propane gas grill
